TV

I am really bummed that my favorite show is now gone until next summer. Man. Why does TV have to go in cycles? I hate that they make us wait and leave us hanging... Then we have to find other shows to hold our attention until our favorites come back. My favorite is Burn Notice on USA. It is the BEST spy show I have ever watched. Ever. I also enjoyed Psych and Monk on USA. They are gone too. Now I have to go off and try something new. Fringe was a little too freaky for me... although I'll probably still watch it! :) I guess some of my fall favorites are coming back: Heroes, The Amazing Race, Dancing with the Stars, House... I will survive. What shows are in your DVR list?

New Friends...

Monica challenged me to make 2 new friends and I did! I went to a "Lunch Bunch" with some of the sisters in our ward. We made pizzas and talked. One of the sisters even made homemade pizza dough! I ate WAY too much pizza... but had a good time talking with some of the women there. I had brought Jilli's diaper bag in with me (instead of just grabbing the wipes out!) and it happens to also be my Stampin' Up! bag with this great little pocket that you can slide a mini catalog down into. I had put the latest mini in it because it makes it look so much cuter... and I do like to subtly advertise. Well, two of the sisters noticed and they were pretty excited that I sell! So, I accepted your challenge Mon!! I did it!! Yay! I got out there and there are fun people here in Georgia after all!

Stake Conference

We went to Stake Conference today. It was a nice meeting and I enjoyed several of the things that were shared with us. The talk that sticks out the most was given by our stake president. He is still the stake president! We remember him from when we were here before. He said he has been the president of this stake for seven years and when he was first put in, he started a stake motto. It is still the stake motto. It is, "Preparing to meet Christ by Focusing on the Temple". He shared with us several scriptures and quotes to reiterate that statement and emphasize how important it is for us to get out to the Temple. We need to be receiving the blessings of regular attendance there. Who doesn't need blessings?
Chris and I really need to go again. It's been quite a while. Chris went with a youth trip a few months ago. I think the last time we went together was before his deployment. It's time, I'd say! I guess we need to make friends with some people in our ward so we can swap babysitting! Not an easy task! I'm really not good at making friends... Most of my friends find me! Hee hee! I just need to get out of my little box. Ugh!
I also have a new Visiting Teaching route that I need to get to. THIS WEEK!! It will be fun... :) I'm just missing all my old partners from Bragg. What fun we had together! I know it's important to get out and visit those sisters each month. I just don't know anyone. But, how else will I get to know anyone right?! Chris was picked up today by his home teaching partner and he went out to visit two families today. I need to get on the ball! I can't let him finish his route before I even start mine! Hee hee!!

The One Thing

I was reading a magazine I purchased the other day at the PX. There was an article in it entitled, "moms, what is the one thing you can't live without". Most were quite trivial: king-size bed, bubble baths, portable DVD player, wine, cold cereal... Others were quite true for me too: books, my cell phone, my mom, my sister, the word no, velcro, my camera. It got me thinking about what the ONE thing I couldn't live without would be. I think I would have to go with - something to do! I must have something to do. Usually this is not a problem. I always have something to do. Whether it's something that MUST be done or something I just WANT to do... I'm rarely left with nothing to occupy my time. Lucky for me!
I asked my kids what the ONE thing was that they couldn't live without. Jillian said, "Dora". Yep. Jeremiah said, "My DS". (Which he happened to be playing at the time...) Jessica said, "My mom and dad". (Brownie points for her!!) The kids they asked in the magazine article gave some hilarious answers: bunnies, Coca-Cola, a bed, my heart, gwapes (grapes), and parmesan cheese. I loved the one who said NOTHING! (Brownie points for him too!)
There was also a Quiz to see if you could pass Fifth grade. I think 6/10 would be a pass right? Hee hee. Those questions were difficult! All of them were not things you would use daily in a typical adult's life. If they had been questions about food, kids or laundry I would have aced it!
Lastly, there were some great websites I wanted to share with you:
www.handipoints.com - this website had a fun way to get your kids to do their chores... they get to mark them off online and earn points towards fun games... looks great for Jess and Miah and it's FREE!
www.stubbypencilstudio.com - this website had great crayons, pencils and other drawing supplies that are earth friendly and very cute!
www.sonsanddaughtersinc.com - this website had very fun kid stuff! I'm going to buy Christmas gifts from here!
Check them out if you get a chance! Lots of fun!

Wow

Can I just say wow?
My brother-in-law sent me the link to this slideshow. I kept his email in my inbox for a day or two and today I finally decided to check it out. Wow.
It is a slideshow with gorgeous photographs staged to imitate images of the Savior's life and teachings that we commonly see. The song that plays along with it is awesome.
Just go check it out: http://mabrystudios.typepad.com/reflections_of_christ/2008/03/reflections-sli.html
Love it.
Share it.
It was the spiritual boost I needed today!
Let it boost you!

Beautiful

We took these beautiful photos at a local nature preserve. It's amazing. I never thought I'd see more lovely scenery than my beloved Rockies, but our loving Heavenly Father put beauty in the world everywhere. I am so lucky to have been able to partake of some on Monday. Aren't we so lucky to live in such a wonderful world? I'm just amazed! It's so great that we don't just have sunshine and blue skies every day. Variety keeps us hoping. We hope for the sunshine when we get the rain. I personally LOVE the thunderstorms. I have always loved storms. I love hearing that rumbling thunder and seeing the lightning ripping up the sky. The smell of rain hitting the dry earth... mmmmm. If it was all thunderstorms though, I'd get pretty bored. We're just so lucky we have a loving Father who was full of wisdom, knowing our needs and how to make our lives here on this earth enjoyable in many ways.
